Why I Love Being A Mom - The Joy Of Motherhood πŸ’–

*A Special Blog For Mother's Day*

Motherhood is an incredible journey filled with discovery, immeasurable love and a chain of complex emotions. From conception, pregnancy and childbirth, these special moments are truly remarkable and beyond words...

Well, Motherhood doesn't come easy for me, it was an intense and dramatic journey...but thankfully, I FINALLY conceived my first child naturally, when my reproductive system decided to cooperate and 'activate' lol..and my 2nd child is a SG50 Jubilee Baby. The day I became a mother, marks the glorious moment of my life and I'm truly grateful for the gift of Motherhood. My children are my Sunshine and Happiness!🌞❤️

Despite many challenges and the unglamorous part of Motherhood, there are many wonderful moments and here's why...I Love Being A Mom :

1. Stronger and Positive Personality πŸ’–

Being a mother has made me a better and stronger person. I didn't know I could multi-task and overcome all the challenges along the way. Raising a child is never easy, it's a long process that requires tons of patience, hard work and sacrifices. Motherhood has tap into my feminine side to be more empathetic, nurturing and compassionate towards people around me.

2. Being Their First TeacherπŸŽ“
Watching my kids grow everyday and unlock new milestones is a fulfilling experience. It's a sense of satisfaction to share my
knowledge and teach my children about life and humanity. I am glad to be part of their life to encourage and inspire them to explore their strengths and potentials.

3. Joy and LaughterπŸ˜„
Children brings joy and laughter into the family, they create a warm and lively ambience. Life is much interesting and meaningful with children around the house. They color my world and complete my life!

4. Strength and Motivation πŸ’ͺ
Some days were crazy and overwhelmed, but whenever I see their sweet smiles and happy faces, all the stress and exhaustions just disappear!

My children give me strength, courage and motivation to tackle the challenges in life. No matter what the situation is, I Will Prevail and I Never Quit! I want to be an example for my children to build a strong and assertive attitude to pursue their dreams and aspirations.

5. Free Unlimited Cuddles and Kisses πŸ’‹
Being cuddled and kissed is one of the best feeling in the world! My heart is full when my kids give me the biggest hugs! Their warm cuddles and sweet kisses are the best remedies on those long, hectic days.

6. Sweet and Cute Surprises πŸ’
I love children. I can't help it when they are so adorable, their innocent expressions, giggles and body movements are way too cute! I still remember my son love singing and doing the Barney dance
when he was a toddler, it still makes me smile when I watched the old video clips. Ahh.. my daughter made me some snacks with a note the other day...These sweet little surprises warms my heart and made my day!

7. Family Bonding πŸ‘¨‍πŸ‘©‍πŸ‘§‍πŸ‘¦
I enjoy spending time with my kids doing random activities. We love playground trips, watching cartoons, kite-flying, snuggle times and eating ice-creams together...and when my children dozed off in my arms, it feels blissful and comforting. These are the moments I live for..Priceless!

8. My Junior Versions πŸ‘¦πŸ‘§
They say my kids have my eyes and smiles, like a "Mini Mandy"πŸ˜„ Yeah, I see similar personality but best of all, they both love Music and Art, just like their Mommy! It must be my creative genes, Daddy is so 'jealous'..Haha!πŸ˜†

9. Gratitude and AppreciationπŸ₯°
I never knew how challenging and demanding Motherhood is, until I became a mother. I could relate and fully understand why my mom is
always so anxious and tired...
All her nags make sense to me now. I have so much gratitude, admiration, respect for her strength and everything she has done for the family. Thanks Momma!

10. Duties and Responsibility πŸ‘Έ
Motherhood is messy and exhausting! There are sleepless nights, endless cleanings, meltdowns, tears, worries and heartaches. At times, my kids made me really mad, frustrated and emotional, but no matter how tired I am and how despair I feel...I will do my best, I have no regrets and I wouldn't trade anything for Motherhood, it's one of the best gifts in life!

I believe as a Mother, it's my duty, responsibility and a promise to my children that I will always be there to support, protect and love them. They can always count on Mommy!😊

Effective Parenting - Mental Wellness For Students πŸŽ“

The recent news triggered some social attention and a major concern for parents. I wonder, "Are the children too stressed in schools?"

Mental health is a complex and a sensitive subject that most people are not comfortable to share and discuss liberally, but it is so important to understand and take control of mental health, as it affects greatly on a person's thoughts, emotions and behaviors.

Like all adults, children have different emotions and bad days too, they could be experiencing prolonged mental stress in school and not aware of the danger of these intense emotions could cause.

We've all been a student before...School isn't always a fun and safe place. A child could be struggling with studies, dealing with bullies, feeling isolated or having low self-esteem etc...They could be having fear, anxiety, depression or having meltdowns and not know where and who they can seek help and support.

Do you still remember when our parents used to nag at us to study hard, get a degree, find a good job and have a successful life... I know as parents, we want the best for our children, especially we are living in a competitive society today, but to the child, it could be a very stressful ordeal to reach our expectations.

We have to be mindful that life isn't all about getting good grades, every child has different potential. Yes! A degree is a great academic honor...but even if your child didn't get a degree, it doesn't mean that they can't be successful later in life. Remember in the end, The Tortoise Won The Race!πŸ₯‡

People like Bill Gates, Ralph Lauren and Steve Jobs doesn't have a college degree, are they not rich, famous and successful? Anything Is Possible!πŸ‘

Now don't get me wrong, education is still extremely important as we all need knowledge and skills to achieve our dreams and goals. The world need doctors, lawyers, engineers too, but the point is to believe that our children is capable to do many great things even without the perfect grades.

The truth is, school doesn't teach you everything and life doesn't stop after graduation. The road is long for our children to explore and excel to their full potential.

Here are my personal parenting tips and advice to improve mental well-being for students/children :

What Can Parents Do? πŸ’‘πŸ€”

1. Communicate daily

Talk to your children every day no matter how busy you are. 20 - 30 mins is a good start. Put down your phone and give them full attention. Listen patiently and don't interrupt, allow your children to express themselves, the more you communicate, the stronger the bond and you will understand your children much better as they grow. (Your child need more than a mobile device.)

2. Don't Compare Your Child with Anyone
No one likes to be compared. It is a psychological damage to a child's self-esteem and it is hard to reverse. A traumatic childhood and bad memories could stay permanently. Your child may grow up thinking that they are never good enough! Accept their flaws and love them for who they are.

3. Praise Your Child Genuinely (But Don't Overdo)
Compliments made us feel good and appreciated, but be specify and genuine. Instead of saying, "Well done, good job, sweetie!" Tell your child, "Mommy is proud of you for cleaning up your room and helping your sister with her homework, you are a great brother." However, avoid excessive praises as this may cause the child to be arrogant, having a boastful attitude and nobody wants to befriend with snobs!

4. Acknowledge Their Feelings
Everyone reacts to situations differently. Please do NOT judge or shame them for their personal thoughts, but try to understand from different perspectives. Every emotions are valid.

5. Positive Self-Talk & Self-Love
Teach children to believe in themselves, this will encourage them to build up their confidence and independence. Celebrate small victory and be their cheer leader! Let them know it is OK to fail, keep trying but do not quit! Use positive, powerful words and remind them about their strengths, good conducts/personality etc...

6. Have Realistic Expectations
Getting straight A's is impressive but don't over-stress the child and penalize them just because they didn't top the class or get the best grades. I think B Is Brilliant too! As long as the child put in their best efforts, we should be proud of them.

7. Be There For Them (Be A Support!)

Everyone needs comfort and support. Do NOT expect young children to behave like independent grown-ups, their young minds are not mature enough to handle all the problems by themselves. Let your children know that they are not alone to face the problems, they can always count on Mommy & Daddy for help and support.

8. Set Good Examples
Children will follow their parents' examples more than their advice. If you want your child to have good morals and behaviors, be a good example, a role model and practice what you preach. Children are constantly watching, observing and learning from the way we speak, react and how we treat others.

9. Learn From Mistakes
Every mistakes will teach the children some important lessons. Explain to them the danger and consequences of making bad choices. This will help them to analyse every situations carefully and be responsible for their actions.

10. Teach Children To Protect Themselves
Remind our children that every problem has a solution! Teach them to reach out to parents, teachers, a trusted adult/friend when they need help, but NEVER suffer in silence.

Parenting is a tough and a challenging journey. Time has changed, the classic parenting tactics need to be revised from time to time. Those parenting guide books and all the seminars/workshops you attended are a source for reference, not every answers can be found in books. Parenting is a Hands-On skill and experience, rather than a theoretical knowledge.

In my honest opinion, there is no perfect formula for parenting, the guideline is to do what works the best for your children.

Our role as a parent is to protect, guide, discipline our children and help them to become a better person. Whatever your parenting strategies and beliefs are, I am sure at the end of the day, all parents want to raise a strong, confident, healthy child.

Always remember...
Your child's mental health is more important than their grades. A positive mind and a resilient child is much likely to overcome adversity, to achieve great success and happiness in life!πŸ†

Spread the words...Mental Health Matters! πŸ’š

Lessons I Learned From My Mom🌹

Mother's Day is a beautiful occasion to celebrate motherhood, maternal bonds and the contributions of mothers in our society.

My mother has inspired me to be a better and stronger person today. Kind, loving and generous. She is one of the strongest and toughest woman I ever known. A woman full of strength and courage, she never back down and she is always positive about life in every situation. My mom is someone whom I look up to, an amazing woman I truly respect and admire...

In honor of Mother's Day, this is a blog to express my appreciation and gratitude for her hard work, sacrifices and the valuable life lessons my mom has taught me.

Important Life Lessons From Mom :

Family comes first
Always protect your family and love your children unconditionally. Nothing in the world is more important than family.

Learn to cook
My mom is a great cook! She believes,
"A way to a man's heart is through his stomach...'' (Oh mom...πŸ˜…) When I was little, she would asked me to help in the kitchen, chopping the onions, garlic, pounding the spices and I would watched her cook everyday. She believes home-cooked meals are the best and much healthier. With the culinary skills today, I enjoy cooking & baking because it's a joy to cook for the family.

Treat everyone the same
Never be arrogant. Whether they are cabbies or the CEOs, everyone deserves respect and to be treated equally.

Be kind and help others
Kindness is a virtue. My mom has a heart of gold. She would help the poor, the needy and the less fortunate. I do volunteer work because I believe in giving back to the society, to offer help and support to our community. The world need more empathy and compassion.

Have more patience
Well, I have to admit this is a tough one...I'm not the most patient person in the world, but I will try my best to work on it!

Never give up
Like a warrior, my mom is a fighter, she taught me to be brave and strong, to keep trying and never give up hope no matter how hard the situation is! "Where there is life, there is hope..."

Keep some money aside
Save for a rainy day. Ah yes...a wise advice! Always keep some extra cash or a reserved fund, you never know when you need it!

Keep learning and exploring
As a child, my mom would encourage me to follow my passion, interests and to keep learning as much as possible. She never stop me from playing music or joining the singing contests, etc... Even when I didn't do much to make her proud, she never rain on my parade. She is always there to cheer for me and I thank her for believing in me.

Choose your friends wisely
It doesn't matter how big the circle of friends you have, it's the TRUE ones that matters!
Friends can influence your thoughts, actions and behaviors, so be careful who you surround yourself with. Mama is right!

Live with integrity
My mom live a honest and humble life. She taught me the values of being true and upright, to speak with honesty and act with integrity. I raise my head high, each and every day...

Be thankful
Despite all the storms and difficult times, my mom doesn't complain. She is always grateful about life and counting the blessings...

Life doesn't come with a manual, it comes with a mother. I thank my mom for being there to support and guide me over the years...

Sometimes, we may not share the same views, beliefs or have different ways of expressing ourselves, but in the end... All mothers have the best interests at heart for the children and the family.

...The combination of the purest love, kindness and patience can never be replaced...🌹

The great and wise Albert Einstein once said, "Everyone Is A Genius!"

I agree...

Personally, I believe every child has their strength and potential. I'm sure every parents want their children to be intelligent, knowledgeable and successful in life. As parents, we can guide our children to explore and unlock the possibilities.

I'm a believer that learning is much more important than getting good grades. Knowledge is important for the young minds. With a good educational system and the right learning tools, learning can be so much fun for the little ones.

I recently received these cool Science Flashcards for Lower and Upper Primary from Learnintt. Their aim is to promote interactive learning to help students learn better and faster.

My son is in Primary 3 this year and he loves science! He would always ask me many questions related to science, but well..I'm not a science guru myself (lol) but with these flashcards, it's much easier to explain the information without racking my brains.

I know sometimes it can be challenging for the kids to learn from textbooks. They may get bored and feel unmotivated to learn more. Children love games. Flashcards create a fun learning experience and I believe children are more likely to gain knowledge as they learn through play.

Studies have shown that young children are attracted to bright colors, pictures, game cards and cartoon characters etc... It's no wonder teachers and schools around the world are using flashcards in the classrooms to build their learning interests.

Flashcards promote interactive learning, it stimulates brain development, it encourage creativeness, build confidence and boost social skills as well.

My kids love these flashcards, I'm glad the flashcards keep them occupied and entertained. What a great way to bond with the kids as they learn and play!

I would recommend this product to any parents who prefer interactive learning materials. The information is accurate and the contents are based on the latest MOE syllabus. Good quality flashcards with many interesting questions & answers that the kids would enjoy science a lot more! Even a parent like me start loving science again.πŸ˜„
