✅ Self-Care Tips For Moms

Ok Mommies, now that the kids are back to school, you deserve some 'me-time' to relax and revitalize! Parenting is a lot of hard work, commitments, responsibilities and the list goes on...

This year, I can finally have more time for myself when both my kids are in the same school. For parents who have a Jubilee baby (SG50), I'm sure you were feeling anxious and excited for their first day in primary school. (I took lots of photos & videos on that special day!😊) My daughter is adapting well and make many new friends, I'm glad she didn't cry and she enjoy going to school with her elder brother.

Having the extra hours to myself is a luxury of freedom that I've been waiting for so long...Well, if you have a helper/nanny, grandparents, in-laws or any relatives who can help you out with the little ones, (lucky you!) you probably won't resonate my excitement, but for many moms like myself who are literally the sole caregiver for our kids with no helper, no in-laws/guardians and a hubby who works long hours/oversea etc..(I feel you and I'm so proud of you..Well done, Mommies!) You gotta' give yourself credits for the versatility and multi-tasking! Nonetheless, all mothers deserve the recognition for the unconditional love and sacrifices for the family.πŸ‘

The lunar new year festive is the busiest time for moms and the current outbreak narrative is intoxicating and disheartening. It greatly affect our emotions and morale, so it's important that we practice daily self-care to maintain healthy physical & mental well-being.

Here are some Self-Care Tips / Ideas and my personal advice for busy Moms :

1. Be Organised. (Plan Your Time)
It's never easy balancing work and family life, but with proper time management and good habits, you can get the jobs done on schedule.

Prioritize the important/urgent tasks and set a daily/weekly routine for work, kids, couple time, family bonding, house chores, etc..A routine will guide you to manage the daily tasks productively.

Don't overwork. The truth is, work will never end! Always spend quality time with your children and your partner at the end of the day.

For me, my children comes first and my family will always be my top priority. I am grateful that I am financially stable, I prefer to work for myself, to have the flexibility to schedule my work at my own pace, doing things that I desire!

2. Take Catnap.(30 - 45 mins)
A power nap during mid-day is a great booster, it allows our body & mind to relax and recharge in a hibernate mode. When we have enough rest, we feel refreshed, more energetic and function better. Happiness is an afternoon nap! πŸ’€

3. Eat Well & Drink More Water. (Enjoy Your Favorite Food)
Food are great pleasure and comfort! Good food brings good mood! When I have a busy schedule with writing assignments and zoom sessions, I hardly have time to sit down comfortably to enjoy a warm, decent meal. It's usually a quick bite or instant food,lol..But now, I can have long, undisturbed lunch, enjoying my flower tea and eating my favorite sushi in my Snoopy pajamas!πŸ˜…

4. Talk To A Friend. (Call, Text, Facetime!)
Deep conversations/chatting with a good friend is heartwarming..You'll feel much better after you talk it out and release your emotions. Everyone needs a good listener, someone who is supportive, who understand the situations and never judge. If you have a dear friend who is willing to listen to your endless rants with patience and kindness, cherish that special bond & friendship, true friends are blessings!

5. Beauty Routines. (Look Good For Yourself!)
Pamper yourself and be nice to your body. Take a long bath, style up your hair or wear a new outfit! Looking good makes you feel great and confident. In my opinion, fashion and grooming shouldn't stop when you become a mother and every mom can look her best! "Mommy, when is the last time you paint your nails? do your make-up? and visit the spa/salons?" Maybe it's time to indulge and shower yourself some tender loving care. 😘

6. Listen To Music.(Sing, Dance, TikTok!)
Music is the best therapy! It creates a fun and lively ambiance. Whenever I feel under the weather, I would sing out loud, make random Tiktok videos, play my Ukulele / Guitar and it makes me feel better instantly. Like a magic pill, music never fails to brighten up my day! 🌞

I firmly believe that Music has the power to inspire, to heal and to connect our deep emotions. Through many tough times and struggles as a mother, music is always there for me and it's been a huge part of my life now..I guess you can't go wrong with music! 😎

7. Stay Calm and Control Your Emotions. (Protect Your Peace!)
Random topics, news, events and people may trigger some tensions and conflicts. Keep your cool and chill! Be wise and walk away from bad vibes and drama. Be selective, don't fight battles that don't matter! Not everything requires your reaction and attention. Sometimes, PEACE is better than being right!

It's Okay To Not Be Okay...

Motherhood is exhausting, demanding and a relentless journey, some days are intense and insane!

But it's normal to experience negative emotions, frustrations, disappointments and meltdowns... but remember, DO NOT trap yourself in a 'mental prison'. Divert your thoughts, visions and focus on the positivity in every situation. The bad days will pass!

Listen to your body and don't be too hard on yourself. Don't feel guilty if you can't do everything in a day, it's never selfish to take a break and rest...You don't need to be a Wonder Woman to save the world! We are only humans, it's OK to take one step at a time.

You are in charge of your own happiness! Self-care is much needed in our drastic lifestyle today, it is imperative that mothers need to replenish physical & emotional energy in order to provide the best care for the family.

Be kind to yourself and take time to do what makes you happy. Make Self-care a priority every day! πŸ₯°

31 December 2019

Bye Bye 2019, Hello 2020! πŸŽ‰

Wow! I can't believe 2019 will be over soon and we are stepping into the next decade...So, how has your year been?

Every December is a time I do some self-reflection and write down my new year's resolution.

Well, 2019 has been a very busy and challenging year for me, however, there are many business opportunities, rewards for the hard work and incidents that help broaden my perspectives about life and I learn to be more appreciative of the people around me.

Despite the busy schedule this year, one of my biggest accomplishments for 2019 is forming a Ukulele Jamming/Interest Group that I named it, 'UkerManics'. I feel very honored to teach Ukulele at the RC and bringing music to our neighborhood.

As a founder and the leader of the group, I am very excited and look forward to the upcoming New Year's Day performance with my fellow members. I can't wait to perform on stage again and I hope the group would expand in the near future.

Today, I wrote down some things that I hope to achieve in 2020. Personally, I believe in planning ahead and setting goals every year because that helps me to stay focused and motivate myself to be better,

so here's the ultimate list...😊

Mandy New Year's Resolution for 2020 :

 1. Spend more time with my family & people I love
 2. Learn a new skill
 3. Do more sports
 4. More vacations
 5. Have more patience
 6. Less nagging. (LOL!πŸ˜…)
 7. Sleep early / Get more beauty sleep
 8. Write new songs
 9. Do what I love
10. Live a happier & healthier life

Looking back at 2019, I realized that every mistake and setback in life is an experience and a lesson learned. Indeed, "Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You LEARN!

Whatever unhappiness that happened this year, let's learn to LET GO and move on. Let bygones be bygones... Life still goes on everyday being happy or sad, so don't carry unnecessary 'baggage' into the new year.

I hereby take this opportunity for a shout-out to thank my dear friends/buddies for being there for me...Thank you all for listening to my silly vents and woes! (You know who you are) I know you guys will be reading my blog anyway...

I hope 2020 will be a better year for all. Here's wishing everyone a wonderful new year filled with new hope, new joy, and new beginnings.

The kids are starting school in a few day's time so Mommy's gonna' be busy again...Till then, take care, all the best and cheers to a Happy 2020!

πŸ“Product Review - Swanicoco Eye Care Cream

Everyone loves beautiful, healthy skin!

I believe women can look good at any age! Everyone can age gracefully. Though aging is a natural part of life but with proper skincare/beauty products, we can slow down the process of aging and improve skin conditions. Healthy, glowing skin makes you look younger, feel beautiful and boost your confidence.

As a busy work-at-home-mum and a night owl who often stay up late to do my blogging and job assignments. Some mornings I woke up with dark circles and puffy eyes, etc... Hence, using skincare & beauty products is essential for me and a part of my daily routine.

They say, "The eyes are the window to the soul!" Indeed. Eyecare is important and beautiful eyes speak! It makes a person look fresher and more attractive.

Recently, I tried this Fermentation Peptine Eye Cream by Swanicoco and I must say I'm pretty impressed. I've used it for 5 days now and I noticed the eye contour is lighter, the skin under the eyes feel smoother and firmer.

I like that the cream is not greasy, not sticky, it absorbs well and moisturized the skin. It has a mild aromatic scent that I like and best of all, the products are made from natural ingredients.

I have combination skin so I am very selective on the skincare/beauty products that I use daily. Personally, I always go for something natural and mild so it's not too harsh on the skin.

Overall, this eye cream is one of the best I've tried so far. I'm happy to find a great product that is suitable for me and I would recommend this to my friends and anyone who loves natural skincare/beauty products.

What's Your Biggest Pet Peeve?⚠️

Let's talk about Pet Peeves.

Most people know I'm friendly, warm, fun-loving with a sense of humor. LOL! But we all have some things that annoy us and these are the things that really bugs me, big time!

My Top Pet Peeves are...

1) Lateness
OK, fashionable late is fine for some events. But sorry, I just can't stand people who are chronically late for everything! No one likes to wait. It's a terrible habit and they are always full of excuses! Well, time is precious and if you don't know what time is it? You need a watch.

2) Oversharing On Social Media / Flooding The Feeds
So you got a new car, a new house and a new sweetheart, that's awesome! The next thing you see their posts/pictures flooding everywhere and every day. Roger! we got your attention loud and clear.

3) Poor Customer Service
Customers are important. No one likes to be served with a bad attitude. Bad service brings bad reputation.(Duh!)

4) Skinny People Who Keep Saying They Are Fat
This has to be my top biggest pet peeve. Hey sweetie, people can see that you are not fat.Telling everyone that you are fat is not going to make you slim anyway. If you are truly unhappy with your body, hit the gym, change your diet or do something. Attention seekers are never cool!

5) Lying & Empty Promises
Everyone hates liars. If you have promised something, keep your words! If you can't be sure, then don't promise anything. I appreciate honesty a lot and I think honesty is the new sexy! 😘

6) Spammers
No one like to wake up to find 50 to 200 unread messages on their emails and WhatsApp...Wow! What's the commotion?

7) Shaking Legs
I wonder why some people love shaking their legs. It looks so tiring and very unpleasant, not cute at all...

8) Chewing Food & Talking At The Same Time
Pardon? Sorry? I can't hardly hear what they are saying with a mouth stuffed with food...I am more worried that they might choke on their food. Please take your time to swallow your food before you speak.

9) Cutting In Line
Try standing for hours queuing for your favorite Bak Kwa (aka BBQ Jerky) and someone suddenly cut in the queue because they are 'in a hurry'. Hey stranger, try a better excuse next time!

10) Not Picking Up Calls
Other than those unknown, suspicious callers and scam calls, etc.. (Ignore those calls) There must be a reason someone calls you. Please pick up the phone because it could be something urgent and important...Then why carry a phone when you don't intend to answer them?

11) Standing In The Middle Of The Crowd Or Walkway
Don't you just hate it when someone stands right in the middle of a shopping crowd or the walkway, blocking the way and talking on their phone, moving so slowly as though no one exists? Very inconsiderate!

12) PDA (Public Display of Affection)
I'm totally cool with PDA and love expressions. (Awww...) I think it's kinda sweet but if the couple is overdoing it...Ok Lovebirds! Please get a room...and if you are in school uniforms, I'll be worried for you, kid!

13) Posting/Tagging Photos Without Your Consent
This is just rude! I respect privacy. Well, not everyone like sharing their personal photos to the world and why do they always have to tag those unglamorous photos? Oh geez!...

14) Channel Surfing
It is so annoying when someone starts switching channels every few minutes when I'm watching a show. Please stop, my eyes hurt!

15) Bullies
Bullying is wrong and I have a low tolerance for any form of bullying...Be kind always, Peace! ✌

...So that's about all but don't worry, I'm still a nice person overall.πŸ˜™ Hey, let me know what are your pet peeves? Comment below or write to me. Till then, stick around lovelies! 😎

This Is Home, Truly...❤️πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬

Singapore National Day is celebrated every year on 09 August.

This year, the nation celebrates our 54th Anniversary of Independence. Though I didn't manage to get the tickets (again!) to watch National Day Parade at the Padang, but I got tickets for my family to celebrate Singapore's 54th National Day at the Heartland Carnival yesterday.

As expected, it was super crowded for such an event. Most of us were wearing our national colors, Red and White (Including my family) there were stage performances, kid rides, military parade, goody bags, free food, snacks and drinks.

The kids love singing and dancing along with the music and my favorite National Themed Song is "Home" By Kit Chan, this song always warms my heart every time I hear it during our National Day, it just never gets old.😁

...So we got 4 Fun packs from the NDP Carnival. It can be used as a backpack and a sling bag. Pretty cool! Let's take a look at what goodies we have in the fun pack...

...and of course, the highlight of every NDP celebration...The FIREWORKS!!!

I never get tired of watching fireworks and I love the colorful sparks flashing in the sky...Wow! It's amazing, breath-taking and very entertaining! Everyone was busy videoing and snapping pictures to capture this beautiful sight. My kids love watching the fireworks too! Indeed, we had so much fun at the NDP celebration this year.

As a true blue Singaporean...daughter of Singapore, born and raised in this country. I am proud of Singapore's achievements and growth over the years. From a fishing village to a well-known modern city today, I think we did well! πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

With honor and a nation's pride, I take this opportunity to wish Singapore prosperity, peace and harmony always! May Singapore stay strong and united as One People, One Nation, One Singapore! πŸ’—

Happy 54th National Day, Singapore!
Majulah Singapura...Cheers! πŸ˜Ž πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬
