GEWR 2024 : Mummy + Me Women's Race (Finisher Medals Achieved)🏅🏅

The Great Eastern Women's Run (GEWR 2024) was held at Singapore Sports Hub (National Stadium) on 27 Oct 2024. It was an all-women's race with more than 12000 participants.

There are a few categories for the women's race : 21.5Km, 10Km, 5Km, 2Km Mummy+Me (5-12yo) and 100m Princess Dash.(3-6yo)

Initially, I planned to sign up for the 5km run as an individual, but since my daughter is really keen to join the event, we signed up for the 2KM Mummy + Me Category instead. The distance is much shorter but I think it's a good start for young children, especially when they are first timers.

This is the first time I'm running with my 9yo daughter (*Girl in pink cap) and I enjoy this sweet maternal bonding activity.💞

Let's Run..My Little Warrior!🏃‍♀️

We arrived at the stadium around 7:30 am. It was a lovely morning and a nice weather for outdoor activities. Minister Mr Edwin Tong flagged off the 2km race at 8am and here we go...

              Mandy's Vlog : GEWR 2024 - Mummy + Me Category

The road was closed for the event, it was pretty crowded but still a smooth flow and we moved in a steadily speed. Every runner is so excited and eager to reach the finishing line within the cut-off time to receive our medals.

Keep Going...Never Quit! 💪

At some point, my daughter was feeling a little tired and I told her... "S, it's normal to feel tired..just keep walking but don't quit. We are almost there!😎" Every child need some words of encouragement and motivation. We made it and finished the race in less than 30mins.Yay!✌️

Our Mummy + Me Finisher Medals! 🏅🏅

The 2km run is fairly easy and manageable for majority of the adults & older kids but the most challenging part is running and videoing at the same time,lol..but I have to capture and document these precious moments, it's all worth it! 🥰

The medal is super cute with Cinnamoroll on it. My daughter is over the moon with her first medal and I am really proud of my baby for completing the race. We took lots of photos together and I hope this medal will motivate my daughter to achieve her goals as she grows...

Relax, Recharge and Enjoy...

We got some energy boosters and refreshments after the race, there were fun activities at the stadium for everyone, my daughter was thrilled to see Cinnamoroll dancing on the stage. Awww...He is so kawaii that I want to cuddle!!! 😊

The Event Pack :

Mission Accomplished - Medals Received In 2024

My personal goal for this year is to achieve 3 medals by end of 2024 and I did it! I'm not much of an athlete nor a professional runner but I do enjoy sports!🏀 Every award/medal means a lot to me, it reminds me of the efforts, perseverance and determination to complete the race! Every participation feels different and very memorable experiences for me.

Running/doing sports is a great way to build stamina, physical health, willpower, inner strength and more...

I look forward to more sports/running events with my family & friends and to achieve more medals to my best abilities! 😎💪

Start Strong. Finish Great.

I'm pleased to be part of this fabulous event, it's amazing to meet so many incredible women, mummies, sisters, daughters coming together for this running event to empower wellness, fitness, and embracing an active, healthy lifestyle!

Welldone ladies! We Start Strong and Finish Great! A warm applause and cheers to Girl Power! 👸❤️‍🔥💪

Family Staycation @Travelodge Harbourfront

Traveling with my family is one of my favorite outdoor adventure and a private moment to share a closer bond with people I love.

For the past few years, our travel plans were hauled and postponed due to the pandemic & travel restrictions. Alternatively, we opted for Staycations instead, as I believe we can still enjoy fun family trips within the country. Frankly, I don't really mind traveling anywhere around the world, it's who I travel with that matters most! :)

Since I'm in a vacation mood lately...I thought I would share one of my favorite hotel stay in Singapore.

Travelodge Harbourfront is located opposite Vivo City. My good friends from Europe had pleasant experience during their holiday trips in Singapore and personally, I love the ambiance, the cleanliness of the rooms and their services. I prefer hotels in secluded areas, away from the city crowds, but still convenient and accessible to basic amenities within walking distance. I value comfort, serenity and privacy, so Travelodge Harbourfront is in my top favorite hotel list.

           A-A-Aye...I'm on vacation! :D

                     (*View from our room)

Whenever I check into a hotel room, the first thing I do, is a quick inspection of the washroom, lol. Pardon me, being a bit of a 'hygiene freak' I am (hahaa!) A clean, neat and functional bathroom is a must for me for any accommodations.

The room is tidy, the sheets are clean, the bed is soft and comfy. It's suitable for our family of 4, with basic toiletries, kitchenware, a mini fridge and a work desk in our non-smoking room.

Since the hotel is near Vivo City, we popped over to Sentosa. My kids love beach activities, picnic and after a fun day at the beach, we went for some shopping, dinner, arcade time at Vivo City and bought some snacks back for supper. In case you want a quick bite but too tired to walk over to the mall, there are vending machines and a self-check PICK & PAY corner at the hotel lobby.

Is that you, Willy? :)

My daughter love swimming, she can't wait to jump into the water, we were amused to see a huge 'whale' resting in the pool and we named it "Willy". The pool was not crowded (how lucky!) and the weather was perfect for water play.

My favorite place in the hotel is the SkyFall, it's a cozy and relaxing spot to chill with some wine, enjoying the beautiful scenery and great music! I love the peaceful and romantic vibes in the evening, make sure you bring your spouse/partner along! (*wink)

Rise and Shine! :)

Had a good sleep and a restful night...Time for some brekkie! The hotel serves a decent, standard breakfast menu and the kids love it. The food is warm, fresh, tasty, and the kitchen staff replenished the dishes frequently.

My family and I had an amazing experience and a wonderful Staycation at Travelodge Harbourfront and I would highly recommend! It's ideal for short getaways, family Staycations, couple-times and friends night-out too. The rates are reasonable & affordable and most importantly, my kids really enjoyed the Staycation and we will definitely be back!;)

(P.S : Dear, stop filming my back! My hubby is trying to be funny and he's really camera shy, he doesn't like to be seen, lol)

Family time is important to me and happiness is spending quality time, especially with my 2 sweethearts! Every family vacations and outings brings new experiences, joy, laughter and strengthen our family bond, these special moments are the sweetest and priceless! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💗

A long weekend is coming..make plans for some activities and enjoy a fabulous time with your family and loved ones! :)

Fun Things To Do At Home 💡

An outbreak sucks! 😷

Since early this year, the world is dealing with a major health crisis and I know it's been a very stressful time for everyone.

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a lot of stress, fear, anxiety everywhere, it also caused many destruction and inconvenience in our daily lives.

Some countries are lockdown, schools are closed, we see panic buying and social distancing etc...With so much tensions around, people are staying indoors now, outings and travel plans are not encouraged. Mass/group activities and social events are either cancelled or suspended and the next thing you find yourself 'grounded' at home and nowhere to go!

I'm outdoorsy, so it's kinda miserable to be stucked at home all weekends.(I miss playing Basketball and Jamming with my UkerManics) but looking at the current situation, it make sense to stay at home and avoid crowded places as a precaution.

Though the Covid-19 has put humanity to a big challenge, but looking on the bright side, it may be a great opportunity to improve relationships and strengthen family bonds.

Here's a list of fun things for you and your family to beat boredom.

Fun Things To Do At Home :

Play Board Games
Ok Mummies and Daddies, it's time to put away your phones/laptops and get on the floor to play some games with the kids. I love board games, it's fun, entertaining and it reminds me of my childhood, "Who's turn to roll the dice, now?"

Declutter The House
With the nasty virus out there, it's good to keep the house clean and tidy everyday! I have been doing a lot of spring cleaning this week. You can clean up the refrigerator, kitchen cabinets, reorganize books/toys shelves, changing the bedsheets/curtains, cleaning out the closets and donate some unwanted stuff to the charity or the garang guni.

Baking /Cooking Time
Get the little helpers to bake some cookies, muffins, making sushi rolls, homemade pizza or simply trying out new recipes.

Art & Craft
You can do simple DIY projects with the kids. It's so cool to make your own jewelry & keychains as gifts.

Read Books or Magazines
Reading is a great pastime but I prefer magazines though.lol

Take A Bubble Bath or A Power Nap
It's OK to relax & recharge...and a glass of wine shouldn't harm. Cheers!

Netflix and Chill
Let's not forget the beloved spouse. Couple time is very important in every relationship. Dim the lights please! 😄

Write A Song or A Poem
Dedicate your work to a friend or to someone special.

Play An Instrument
Playing the Ukulele everyday lighten up my mood. You can practise your piano, guitar or drums, etc.. just enjoy and have fun!

Call Your Bffs
Instead of texting and chatting on the phone. Try FaceTime or video chats but do avoid gossips and spreading rumours. (Positive vibes ok?)

Family Karaoke Time
Singing out loud can reduce stress. Get the kids to sing their favorite Disney songs and parents can sing along too.

Movie Nights
Watch your favorite movies together as a family. Comedies, horrors, animation, korean drama whatever...but don't forget the chips and popcorn!!!

Home Workout
If you can't hit the gym for now. Try indoor exercise, like skipping, hula hoop or sit ups, etc..you can still have a good sweat, even at home.

Dance
If you feel like dancing, why not practice your favorite K-pop dance moves? (chumchu ja) Keep grooving!

Home Manicure/Pedicure
Try different colors and designs on your nails or try out a new beauty face mask. Pamper yourself because you deserve it!

Listen To Favorite Music
Music is a great therapy! Put on your headphones and feel the beats...

Indoor Gardening
If you love plants, you can grow some herbs and build a mini home garden.

Online Shopping
I'm an active online shopper! I love online shopping because it save time and it's so convenient! I'm glad I can get almost everything I need, without stepping out of the house. So ladies, go get that dress and the stiletto!

Spend Time With Your Pets
While bonding with family is important but don't forget to cuddle your pets and give them some attentions. Pets are family too.

For those who are serving the LOA (Leave Of Absence)/SHN (Stay-Home-Notice) for 2weeks Home Quarantine/Self-Isolation etc... Please hang in there, do your part and stay at home. Keep your spirits up and try to keep yourself occupied at home, the 2 weeks quarantine order will soon pass...

It's perfectly normal to panic, feel worried and scared during such crisis but we have to remind ourselves to remain calm, be prepared and stay positive during this difficult time. I believe if everyone stand hand in hand, we can overcome this together and.......
Storms Don't Last Forever!

Let's all be social responsible, practice good hygiene and stay united always...Peace! 💗 #SGUnited
