Review - QINGO Singapore

Fruits are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals that contains high fiber, antioxidants and potassium that keep us healthy. Studies have shown that regular fruits consumption (in moderation) promote health benefits that can boost our immunity, gut health, digestive system and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. It's no wonder...
"An apple a day, keeps the doctor away!"

I love fruits and I enjoy different kind of fruits any day! It's a great, nutritious quick snack and taking fruits have been a part of my daily diet for years. Fruits like my favorite Strawberries, Mangoes and Cherries are refreshing, good for the skins and lightens up my mood, so for me, "A fruit a day keeps the blues away!😊

I recently tried some exotic fruits from Qingo Singapore.

Wow! This is the first time I tried the Hawthorn Berry, they look so cute like mini apples. Crunchy, not too sweet and slightly sour with an astringent taste, I like it! I rarely find these in our supermarkets, so now I know where to get these rare exotic fruits.

My favorite is the Kyoho Grapes. They are sweet, seedless and every piece of the grape is firm and fleshy. (I love them chilled)

These Millennium Cherry Tomatoes are fresh,so juicy and my kids love them too, you can add some for breakfast and your favorite salad.

             Freshness & Sweetness! :)

I love these sweet, seedless mini Tangerines, you can literally pop a few in one go! Yummy... I hardly eat Persimmon fruits, but these are tasty, not overly soft and natural sweetness.

Overall, my family and I enjoyed the fruits, I'm satisfied with the freshness and taste! The fruits were neatly packed and delivered on schedule too.

Personally, I love the wide range of fruit choices on their website that makes it so convenient to order different type of seasonal fruits, it's like a one-stop store to get all the fresh fruits and groceries you need! Perfect for busy moms like me. Recommended and thumbs up!πŸ‘

GRC Event 2022 - FORWARD SG πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬

As a member of the Grassroots Committee (GRC), I'm thankful for the opportunities to meet and interact with people, from different walks of life through social / community events. I've been a Grassroots Leader for more than 3 years and in YEC many years back. Personally, I believe in giving back to the society and I am honored to have contributed my humble support to serve the community.

I recently attended a GRC private event at Devan Nair Institute, located at Jurong East.

FORWARD SG is a nationwide campaign that was launched to let the community come together to explore new values, goals, propositions on social compact and to shape the future for Singapore.

The exercise is organised into six pillars to strengthen our solidarity as a society.

▪️ EMPOWER        ▪️ BUILD
▪️ EQUIP                ▪️ STEWARD
▪️ CARE                  ▪️ UNITE

Refreshments before the event starts...

                  (Thank goodness! I haven't had my breakfast,lolπŸ˜…)

It was a huge group and a scheduled event, so we were divided into different sub groups and everyone get to pick a topic that they are most interested to discuss.

I chose the topic on EQUIP, which highlight on Education and Lifelong Learning, that we can introduce new skills/re-skills/up-skills programs in our educational system, to equip the students with valuable skills that will create more career opportunities and future endeavors.

My group includes 5 Secondary School students and another parent.

The students were very polite and a little shy at first, but after some ice-breaking and brainstorming, the teenagers are vocal and engaging on sharing their personal views, suggestions and their school life experience. It's great to see our younger generations filled with passion and enthusiasm on their dreams, goals and aspirations.

As a group, we believe that education is extremely important, but we should also focus on interpersonal skills and the ability to express ourselves confidently in general communication and public speaking etc. Every students should be given equal opportunities to explore their talents and full potentials, regardless their streaming categorised.

As a parent and in my opinion, I encourage progressive education that enhance on Social Skills, Problem Solving, Leadership, Teamwork and building Strong Mental Well-Being. As mentioned before on my earlier blogs, I believe (EQ) is just as important for a child's learning journey, aside from getting good grades (IQ) and academy achievements.

Our children and younger generation is our future and hope.
I believe in order for a country to achieve advanced milestones, technological innovations and to improve the quality of life, we must adjust our mentality, be flexible and welcome new ideas, plans and directions towards the stages of transitions.

Changes can be challenging and uncomfortable, but a country cannot remain in stagnation. We have to keep up with new skills, knowledge, self-growth & self-improvement as we progress. This will benefit every individual in the competitive world today.

I took this picture before the event, very creative design and I love the words on the stairs. "Every Step Brings You Closer To Success."

Everyone plays an important role for a nation's development and progression, it doesn't matter if you are the working adults, homemakers, students, retirees etc..Regardless what background, ethnicity, cultures and beliefs, we can all contribute to our society as a community. Every effort and contribution matters!πŸ‘

It's been a privilege to attend the event and I learned something new during this interactive dialogue session and I don't mind sacrificing my Sunday morning, lol.πŸ˜„

This is the first time I get to meet Minister Desmond Lee (Minister for National Development of Singapore) in person. A warm and friendly gentleman with a cheerful smile. Minister Lee gave a summary speech on the key contents that were discussed on the event.

It was an enjoyable event and a pleasure to meet many new friends and the Minister/MPs in our constituency. I look forward to more GRC events to come.

Coming Together is a Bonding
Keeping Together is Progress.
Working Together is Success.

Christmas is just around the corner and it's my favorite time of the year. I take this opportunity to wish everyone a joyous Christmas seasons and a wonderful New Year 2023! πŸŽ„πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰

The Black Belt Journey πŸ₯‹

I've always love Taekwondo.

For ages, I'm amazed by the stunning kick patterns, self-defense techniques and the 5 Tenets of Taekwondo. However, I never had the chance to have a formal training when I was younger and my mom is worried that I'll be too masculine..lolπŸ˜…

But anyways, allow me to share an official news on my blog today!😊

My 11yo son got his Taekwondo Black Belt (Ist Dan). Yeah, I am filled with joy & excitement and I would like to share my personal experience and thoughts on this Black Belt journey...

It's been a challenging but a rewarding process. Though there were some delays due to the pandemic restrictions earlier and a few failed gradings in the past, but my son pass his Black Belt grading on the first attempt. My family is overwhelmed by his performance and we are really proud of his accomplishment.

From Zero To Hero! (*White To Black Belt)

My son N, is very much a gentle and mellow kid. He isn't a huge fan of Martial Arts, Kung-Fu, Wu Shu that sort...In fact, he loves Science, Robotics and Music, but like many concerned parents, we are always worried that our kids might get bullied in school, so I encouraged him to learn Taekwondo as a form of self-protection and to boost his physical fitness. Quite frankly, I never expect him to get a Black Belt at this young age, but I'm grateful that he did and completed the course.

I still remember when he failed his grading at Green/Blue belt when he was about 8yo, it was emotional...I felt his sadness and disappointment. After all, no one likes to fail. At some point, we hesitated and even thought of giving up Taekwondo, especially when some of his friends started quitting at Green/Blue belt, but I told him NOT to give up! I want my children to be resilient with determination and perseverance, so I motivate him to continue the training...I believe in my son and I know he can do it!

As parents, it's important to show our full support and encouragement to our children and guide them to achieve their goals and dreams. Even if they take a little longer, we shouldn't just give up. A slow progress is still better than no progress!  I've been his biggest cheer leader in every Taekwondo gradings and I enjoyed these amazing experiences.

Life is full of challenges, setbacks and failure is part of life! It's OK to fail, but don't be afraid to try again. Sometimes, we have to push ourselves a little harder to discover our full potentials.

I've learnt many tough life lessons and with an assertive personality today, I don't give up easily and I stand firm with integrity.

Personally, I don't believe in quitting, unless there are valid reasons or special circumstances. When I started something new, a course, an assignment, a project or a goal etc..I will do my best to complete it with all my efforts.(but that's just me and my perspective.)

I'm glad my son took my advice and go all the way, he didn't quit even though every level gets tougher! Getting a Black Belt isn't easy for anyone, it takes a lot of hard work, practices and self-discipline to keep leveling up and earn the Black Belt.

Taekwondo improves agility, reflexes, and concentration. It boost stamina, confidence and built a stronger mentality. I notice many positive changes since my son started his Taekwondo journey. At times, we would practiced together on sparring, kicks, board-breaking with our training gears. It's our bonding and N will teach me some basic moves and self-defense maneuvers too. Well, I can do Chong-Ji and the turning side kicks. Pretty cool, right? 🀭

A Black Belt Is Born! :)

When I saw N wearing the Black Belt at the ceremony that day...Wow! it's beyond words can describe and deep emotions run through my mind. My little guy look so manly with his Black Belt around his waist. I feel safe and protected to have my personal "Body Guard" beside me.Lol..It's one of the greatest moments indeed and I'm really happy for him.πŸ₯°

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to his Masters / Trainers for the guidance, patience and hard work for the past few years.

The Black Belt journey has taught me some important life lessons. As long as you keep trying, be consistent and believe in yourself, you will get there! Nothing comes easy in life, without determination and willpower, there is no progression nor success. I firmly believe...The harder the battle, the sweetest the victory!

Keep Trying...Don't Let Yourself Down!

Perseverance is strength. When you set a new goal, stay committed with solidity and you will achieve a positive outcome.

We may not always be the fastest, the greatest or the most outstanding ones, but keep in mind that the tortoise won the race for its hard work and persistence.

In life, people may fail you, but Do NOT fail yourself! Success may take a while, but it's all worthwhile in the end! We made it when we refuse to quit and this remarkable journey has displayed the core values and the indomitable spirit of Taekwondo.😎

" A Black Belt Is A White Belt Who
Never Quits! "

Keep Training Hard...Taekwon! πŸ‘Š

Review - Durian SG Prime

Durian is a tropical fruit, harvest in Southeast Asia and is famously known as The King of Fruits. With a robust and distinctive taste, the fruit may look spiky on the outside, but it is sweet on the inside. Some people can't stand the pungent smell, but many, love and appreciate the unique, intense flavor of the fruit. For durian lovers, it's a delicacy and great pleasure to enjoy fresh, tasty, premium durians.

Singaporeans love durians! (At least the vast majority) With durian sellers across the island, we can enjoy our favorite durians throughout the year.

Since my teens, I loveeee durians! (Yes, I have sweet tooth, lol) My personal favourite are, Mao Shan Wang (Musang King), D24 and Red Prawn.

I recently tried some durians from Durian SG Prime and wow! It's one of the best I have tasted so far. The durians are high quality with smooth, creamy texture and the fragrance is irresistible! Just look at the bright yellow durian meat! Most of the seeds are flat, so you can enjoy the thick, fleshy durians. So satisfying and damn shiok! 😎

Fresh, 'addictive' and finger licking good! :)

When I took the first bite..Mmmm, it's Power! The deep aroma of the durian lingers in every bite and the creamy durian meat melts in the mouth and you just want more...Even my kids who hardly eat durians love it! and yeah, durians taste even better when you eat it with your family, friends and loved ones.

The Old Tree Mao Shan Wang has a darker yellow tone with a smooth, custard texture and a stronger sweet taste, while the Black Gold has a more complex, musty, bittersweet aftertaste that most durian connoisseurs would love!
