Look Mom...I Got An Award! ๐Ÿ†

I've always believe in giving back to the society as what my mom has taught me since I was little...I find fulfillment and a sense of purpose for my contributions to the community.

I started community service at YEC (AMK) in my late teens and from a member of the YEC to RN committee. It's been a compelling journey with the (GRC) Grassroots Organizations over the years...

I am pleased to receive the Good Service Award at the Grassroots Appreciation Awards Ceremony recently... It was a honorable moment to be standing on stage to receive this award in person, from the Advisor (MP) and taking pictures together.

Well, it's been a really long time since I received an award and I remember the last time I won a trophy was during a Talentime competition back in high school.

Though this isn't the Grammy or our local Star Awards, lol..however, it is still a valuable award of recognition and honor. It's got my name and the MP signature on it. (Wow..how cool!) It definitely feels good to be recognized and appreciated for the years of hard work and commitments. The crystal trophy looks pretty cute with a thumb up and this thing is heavy!๐Ÿ˜„ (*Censored for content security and confidentiality*)

Personally, I have great admiration and respect for all volunteers in the community work, they are the true givers who empowered the beauty and generosity of humanity. With the support and dedication of the volunteers, it provides a resourceful network and efficient support systems for our local communities.

Everyone can be a volunteer, as long as you have a heart of giving and the passion to serve the community, you are an asset to the country! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Growing up from a humble and less privileged family, I can empathize the challenges and the struggles when you don't have a lot and I have witnessed many vulnerable families and elderly in the society who needs help and assistance. Therefore, every source of support matters and it is never too little.

As a work at home mom with 2 young children and a busy schedule... I barely have much free time, but I strive to be productive and manage my time wisely. I do my best to contribute as much as I can, as I would rather do something meaningful for the society than doing something else, but that's just me! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Dinner Is Ready! Good Times & Great Food..:)

As you know I'm a foodie... Eating is a pleasure and I love taking random food photos to share with my readers. I love the Nonya Laksa, Chicken Satays and Peking Duck Rolls. So yummy and satisfying! It was a fruitful day to receive an award and enjoying great food at the award ceremony.

A Proud Moment...

My kids are so happy for me, "Welldone Mommy, we are so proud of you!" Awww, my heart melts when my little ones praised me. My family celebrated my sweet achievement the next day...

As a mother, I would encourage my kids to give back to the society when they grow up. Kindness is a virtue and it's priceless! No one has ever become poor by giving. To offer help and support makes a difference in life that brings warmth and comfort in humanity.

Servicing the community on social events, Emcee hosting and teaching music (Ukulele) has developed my leadership quality, interpersonal skills and I get to explore new interests and potential.

Being a Grassroots Leader with the role of the Asst.Treasurer in the RN Committee, I gain new skills and knowledge from my seniors. I have the opportunities to meet people from all walks of life and I enjoy interacting with the MPs, other grassroots members, residents, parents, students on social events, seminars, campaigns and celebrations.

To me, such experience are much rewarding and fulfilling than monetary rewards.

This award is a great reminder that hard work and efforts are appreciated and valued.

My perceptive of life is living with passions and purposes! This belief motivates me to chase my dreams, to keep elevating and to fully embrace myself!

I look forward to achieve more awards in the years to come, to fill up my display shelf, hopefully! (haha!)

Last but not least...I would like to thank my family for their support & understanding and to all the amazing mentors who guided & inspired me in every aspects of life...

As a true blue Singaporean, I will contribute my greatest support in my best abilities to serve our community and beyond.

With great honor and gratitude, I am truly thankful for this remarkable award! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ‘

GRC Event 2022 - FORWARD SG ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

As a member of the Grassroots Committee (GRC), I'm thankful for the opportunities to meet and interact with people, from different walks of life through social / community events. I've been a Grassroots Leader for more than 3 years and in YEC many years back. Personally, I believe in giving back to the society and I am honored to have contributed my humble support to serve the community.

I recently attended a GRC private event at Devan Nair Institute, located at Jurong East.

FORWARD SG is a nationwide campaign that was launched to let the community come together to explore new values, goals, propositions on social compact and to shape the future for Singapore.

The exercise is organised into six pillars to strengthen our solidarity as a society.

▪️ EMPOWER        ▪️ BUILD
▪️ EQUIP                ▪️ STEWARD
▪️ CARE                  ▪️ UNITE

Refreshments before the event starts...

                  (Thank goodness! I haven't had my breakfast,lol๐Ÿ˜…)

It was a huge group and a scheduled event, so we were divided into different sub groups and everyone get to pick a topic that they are most interested to discuss.

I chose the topic on EQUIP, which highlight on Education and Lifelong Learning, that we can introduce new skills/re-skills/up-skills programs in our educational system, to equip the students with valuable skills that will create more career opportunities and future endeavors.

My group includes 5 Secondary School students and another parent.

The students were very polite and a little shy at first, but after some ice-breaking and brainstorming, the teenagers are vocal and engaging on sharing their personal views, suggestions and their school life experience. It's great to see our younger generations filled with passion and enthusiasm on their dreams, goals and aspirations.

As a group, we believe that education is extremely important, but we should also focus on interpersonal skills and the ability to express ourselves confidently in general communication and public speaking etc. Every students should be given equal opportunities to explore their talents and full potentials, regardless their streaming categorised.

As a parent and in my opinion, I encourage progressive education that enhance on Social Skills, Problem Solving, Leadership, Teamwork and building Strong Mental Well-Being. As mentioned before on my earlier blogs, I believe (EQ) is just as important for a child's learning journey, aside from getting good grades (IQ) and academy achievements.

Our children and younger generation is our future and hope.
I believe in order for a country to achieve advanced milestones, technological innovations and to improve the quality of life, we must adjust our mentality, be flexible and welcome new ideas, plans and directions towards the stages of transitions.

Changes can be challenging and uncomfortable, but a country cannot remain in stagnation. We have to keep up with new skills, knowledge, self-growth & self-improvement as we progress. This will benefit every individual in the competitive world today.

I took this picture before the event, very creative design and I love the words on the stairs. "Every Step Brings You Closer To Success."

Everyone plays an important role for a nation's development and progression, it doesn't matter if you are the working adults, homemakers, students, retirees etc..Regardless what background, ethnicity, cultures and beliefs, we can all contribute to our society as a community. Every effort and contribution matters!๐Ÿ‘

It's been a privilege to attend the event and I learned something new during this interactive dialogue session and I don't mind sacrificing my Sunday morning,lol.๐Ÿ˜„

This is the first time I get to meet Minister Desmond Lee (Minister for National Development of Singapore) in person. A warm and friendly gentleman with a cheerful smile. Minister Lee gave a summary speech on the key contents that were discussed on the event.

It was an enjoyable event and a pleasure to meet many new friends and the Minister/MPs in our constituency. I look forward to more GRC events to come.

Coming Together is a Bonding
Keeping Together is Progress.
Working Together is Success.

Christmas is just around the corner and it's my favorite time of the year. I take this opportunity to wish everyone a joyous Christmas seasons and a wonderful New Year 2023! ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ‰
