GRO Awards Presentation Ceremony 2024

Time flies.

I never really count how many years I have been with the (GRO) grassroots organisation, but I am truly honoured to receive a 5Year Appreciation Award from our MP recently...

It marked another milestone and I'm grateful for the recognition for my contribution to our community. It feels amazing to receive an award on stage once again, but I do get a little shy at times.lol😅

The award presentation ceremony was fun and heart-warming. I had a great time chilling and catching up with many grassroot members. We played some interactive games, kahoot quizzes and took pictures together to capture this special occasion.

A warm shout out to all my fellow members in our RN committee, I'm thankful for their support, guidance and teamwork for all these years.

Some of my senior members received lifelong 15Years and 20 Years awards in our RN committee. Wow, I extend my respect and admiration for their hard work, passion and commitments in their assignments and duties.

As December is a time I like to recap and reflect for the year. I must say it has been a fruitful and a rewarding year for me. My personal goals were achieved and I'm pleased with the tasks completed this year.

Everyone Can Give!💗

Volunteering is something I do profusely and I enjoy what I do.🥰

Personally, I value kindness and empathy. I've always believed in giving back to the society and leading by examples.

Growing up as a child, I see people struggling everyday, so it makes me want to do more when I grow up and helping people makes me feel good. I love to see people's lives improve with every support and assistance they get.

Goals and Missions :

Everyone needs some help & support from time to time so any act of kindness is never wasted. Every contributions are recognised and valued.

Volunteers are much needed and important in every community, they are the givers, the ones who dedicate their personal time, efforts and obligation without any wages. We work together as a team to build strong connections, networks, social support, harmony and providing the needs to the community.

To Support & To Serve :

I will continue to support and serve the community to my best ability. It has been a meaningful purpose and a fulfilling journey for me and I learned so much in the past 5 years as a grassroots leader.

My family is supportive and my kids are proud of the awards & achievements I received in community service.

Thank You Volunteers!!! 🥰💖

This award is dedicated to all the volunteers everywhere, in every constituency. Thank you for what you do and for making a difference to humanity! 💓🌏

Every award is an achievement that I deeply cherished and this award came like a special Christmas gift that money can't buy...What a sweet accomplishment to round-up for 2024.

I Love Christmas Season!:)

Christmas is a season of giving and sharing. As we celebrate the holiday festive and counting down to the new year. I take this opportunity to wish my dear readers, business associates, family and friends a joyful Christmas holiday and a prosperous new year! 🥳☃️🎄🥂

GEWR 2024 : Mummy + Me Women's Race (Finisher Medals Achieved)🏅🏅

The Great Eastern Women's Run (GEWR 2024) was held at Singapore Sports Hub (National Stadium) on 27 Oct 2024. It was an all-women's race with more than 12000 participants.

There are a few categories for the women's race : 21.5Km, 10Km, 5Km, 2Km Mummy+Me (5-12yo) and 100m Princess Dash.(3-6yo)

Initially, I planned to sign up for the 5km run as an individual, but since my daughter is really keen to join the event, we signed up for the 2KM Mummy + Me Category instead. The distance is much shorter but I think it's a good start for young children, especially when they are first timers.

This is the first time I'm running with my 9yo daughter (*Girl in pink cap) and I enjoy this sweet maternal bonding activity.💞

Let's Run..My Little Warrior!🏃‍♀️

We arrived at the stadium around 7:30 am. It was a lovely morning and a nice weather for outdoor activities. Minister Mr Edwin Tong flagged off the 2km race at 8am and here we go...

              Mandy's Vlog : GEWR 2024 - Mummy + Me Category

The road was closed for the event, it was pretty crowded but still a smooth flow and we moved in a steadily speed. Every runner is so excited and eager to reach the finishing line within the cut-off time to receive our medals.

Keep Going...Never Quit! 💪

At some point, my daughter was feeling a little tired and I told her... "S, it's normal to feel tired..just keep walking but don't quit. We are almost there!😎" Every child need some words of encouragement and motivation. We made it and finished the race in less than 30mins.Yay!✌️

Our Mummy + Me Finisher Medals! 🏅🏅

The 2km run is fairly easy and manageable for majority of the adults & older kids but the most challenging part is running and videoing at the same time,lol..but I have to capture and document these precious moments, it's all worth it! 🥰

The medal is super cute with Cinnamoroll on it. My daughter is over the moon with her first medal and I am really proud of my baby for completing the race. We took lots of photos together and I hope this medal will motivate my daughter to achieve her goals as she grows...

Relax, Recharge and Enjoy...

We got some energy boosters and refreshments after the race, there were fun activities at the stadium for everyone, my daughter was thrilled to see Cinnamoroll dancing on the stage. Awww...He is so kawaii that I want to cuddle!!! 😊

The Event Pack :

Mission Accomplished - Medals Received In 2024

My personal goal for this year is to achieve 3 medals by end of 2024 and I did it! I'm not much of an athlete nor a professional runner but I do enjoy sports!🏀 Every award/medal means a lot to me, it reminds me of the efforts, perseverance and determination to complete the race! Every participation feels different and very memorable experiences for me.

Running/doing sports is a great way to build stamina, physical health, willpower, inner strength and more...

I look forward to more sports/running events with my family & friends and to achieve more medals to my best abilities! 😎💪

Start Strong. Finish Great.

I'm pleased to be part of this fabulous event, it's amazing to meet so many incredible women, mummies, sisters, daughters coming together for this running event to empower wellness, fitness, and embracing an active, healthy lifestyle!

Welldone ladies! We Start Strong and Finish Great! A warm applause and cheers to Girl Power! 👸❤️‍🔥💪

"Red Red Wine...You Made Me Feel So Fine..."

After a long busy week, I like to chill and enjoy a glass of wine over the weekend...

Wine is more than just a beverage, every wine taste different and I appreciate good wine! As a social drinker, I drink occasionally during celebrations, private functions, dinners and leisure, etc...Personally, I love red wine and rosé from France and Italy.

The Hidden Gem - Wine Tasting @75cl.sg

Recently, I attended a wine tasting session @ 75cl.sg (Tasting Lab) located at Alexandra. The interior is exquisite and organised. Very cosy and relaxing ambience with soft music and warm lightings. I love the mellow vibes! I'm impressed with the wide varieties of wine collections neatly display in their store. Their wines are from France, Spain, Italy, USA, Australia and more...The prices are reasonable and a great value for wine enthusiasts.

It was nice meeting Mr Alex Guo, the gentleman is warm, polite and friendly, he showed me around the place and shared some tips and knowledge about wine. Here is Alex opening up a bottle of wine. Very skilled and professional! (*I could never open this fast!😄👍)

Exclusive Featured : Moonlight Delights Fiesta @SCCC

The Mid-Autumn festival, also known as the Mooncake festival is widely celebrated in many Asia countries and it's a traditional celebration in Chinese culture. On the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, families and friends gather around to enjoy delicious mooncakes with tea and admire the moon in its full glory!

Growing up in an Asian family, I value traditional cultures, customs, celebrations... and till this day, the mooncake festive is still my favourite Chinese festival of all time. It brings back many nostalgia moments and fond memories of my childhood.

We Love Festive Shopping! ;)

My kids love festive time! I told them about the mythical story of Chang-Er (Moon Goddess), HouYi, the Jade Rabbit and how mooncake festival is celebrated.

I brought my kids along to shop for festive goodies that day and we bought some mooncakes, pastries, pomelo and a few cute lanterns.

I personally love the classic cellophane paper lanterns, the goldfish/carp designs are my favourite! My mom used to buy these lanterns for every mooncake festival. My family prefer traditional double salted eggs lotus mooncakes. Yummy! 😋

The round shaped mooncake symbolizes completeness, togetherness, good fortune and family reunion.

Moonlight Delights Fiesta :

Last weekend, I brought my kids to the Moonlight Delights fiesta at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) located at Shenton way, near Tanjong Pagar MRT.

It was a heart-warming and family friendly event for all ages. The view at the roof garden is so beautiful and aesthetic! We took some photos with the giant mooncakes and neon lights display. We brought along our own lanterns and bubbles. I felt like a wild child, running around, having so much fun with my kids! 😄

The Evening Entertainment...

An outstanding hola hoop performance by circus artist street performer Bryan Wong from Brylights. The humorous and jovial guy kept the audience entertained with his skilful manoeuvre and stunts! Awesome! The crowds were cheering with excitement.

There were game booths, stage performance, guessing the riddles, mooncake stalls and lantern walk.

Exploring The Milky Way...

My favourite part of the event is the star gazing. How romantic! 😊🤩 Let's count the stars...and to the moon & back!

I'm into astronomy and I've always love star gazing and solar system exploration. The kids were so excited to watch the stars and moon with the telescope equipment provided. What an astonishing experience!

Thankfully, it didn't rain! We are blessed with a cooling and breezy weather that evening.

The queue was overwhelming, but the crowd control was efficient and it's worth the wait!😎

The event was well-organised, with amazing activities and entertainments for everyone. We had an enjoyable evening and I look forward to more fun family events in the near future!

A Demure Treat!

A lovely festive gift from one of my music students at the event. Very cutesy, very tasty and very demure! 😘 I love it! Thanks to JW for the private gathering and extended invitation.

The Mooncake Festive is a wonderful time for family bonding, outdoor activities and fun celebrations! Have a great time!

Sending my heartfelt wishes for a joyful Mooncake Festival full of bliss, happiness and sweet reunions! Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to all who celebrate! :)
