GEWR 2024 : Mummy + Me Women's Race (Finisher Medals Achieved)🏅🏅

The Great Eastern Women's Run (GEWR 2024) was held at Singapore Sports Hub (National Stadium) on 27 Oct 2024. It was an all-women's race with more than 12000 participants.

There are a few categories for the women's race : 21.5Km, 10Km, 5Km, 2Km Mummy+Me (5-12yo) and 100m Princess Dash.(3-6yo)

Initially, I planned to sign up for the 5km run as an individual, but since my daughter is really keen to join the event, we signed up for the 2KM Mummy + Me Category instead. The distance is much shorter but I think it's a good start for young children, especially when they are first timers.

This is the first time I'm running with my 9yo daughter (*Girl in pink cap) and I enjoy this sweet maternal bonding activity.💞

Let's Run..My Little Warrior!🏃‍♀️

We arrived at the stadium around 7:30 am. It was a lovely morning and a nice weather for outdoor activities. Minister Mr Edwin Tong flagged off the 2km race at 8am and here we go...

              Mandy's Vlog : GEWR 2024 - Mummy + Me Category

The road was closed for the event, it was pretty crowded but still a smooth flow and we moved in a steadily speed. Every runner is so excited and eager to reach the finishing line within the cut-off time to receive our medals.

Keep Going...Never Quit! 💪

At some point, my daughter was feeling a little tired and I told her... "S, it's normal to feel tired..just keep walking but don't quit. We are almost there!😎" Every child need some words of encouragement and motivation. We made it and finished the race in less than 30mins.Yay!✌️

Our Mummy + Me Finisher Medals! 🏅🏅

The 2km run is fairly easy and manageable for majority of the adults & older kids but the most challenging part is running and videoing at the same time,lol..but I have to capture and document these precious moments, it's all worth it! 🥰

The medal is super cute with Cinnamoroll on it. My daughter is over the moon with her first medal and I am really proud of my baby for completing the race. We took lots of photos together and I hope this medal will motivate my daughter to achieve her goals as she grows...

Relax, Recharge and Enjoy...

We got some energy boosters and refreshments after the race, there were fun activities at the stadium for everyone, my daughter was thrilled to see Cinnamoroll dancing on the stage. Awww...He is so kawaii that I want to cuddle!!! 😊

The Event Pack :

Mission Accomplished - Medals Received In 2024

My personal goal for this year is to achieve 3 medals by end of 2024 and I did it! I'm not much of an athlete nor a professional runner but I do enjoy sports!🏀 Every award/medal means a lot to me, it reminds me of the efforts, perseverance and determination to complete the race! Every participation feels different and very memorable experiences for me.

Running/doing sports is a great way to build stamina, physical health, willpower, inner strength and more...

I look forward to more sports/running events with my family & friends and to achieve more medals to my best abilities! 😎💪

Start Strong. Finish Great.

I'm pleased to be part of this fabulous event, it's amazing to meet so many incredible women, mummies, sisters, daughters coming together for this running event to empower wellness, fitness, and embracing an active, healthy lifestyle!

Welldone ladies! We Start Strong and Finish Great! A warm applause and cheers to Girl Power! 👸❤️‍🔥💪

Exclusive Featured : Moonlight Delights Fiesta @SCCC

The Mid-Autumn festival, also known as the Mooncake festival is widely celebrated in many Asia countries and it's a traditional celebration in Chinese culture. On the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, families and friends gather around to enjoy delicious mooncakes with tea and admire the moon in its full glory!

Growing up in an Asian family, I value traditional cultures, customs, celebrations... and till this day, the mooncake festive is still my favourite Chinese festival of all time. It brings back many nostalgia moments and fond memories of my childhood.

We Love Festive Shopping! ;)

My kids love festive time! I told them about the mythical story of Chang-Er (Moon Goddess), HouYi, the Jade Rabbit and how mooncake festival is celebrated.

I brought my kids along to shop for festive goodies that day and we bought some mooncakes, pastries, pomelo and a few cute lanterns.

I personally love the classic cellophane paper lanterns, the goldfish/carp designs are my favourite! My mom used to buy these lanterns for every mooncake festival. My family prefer traditional double salted eggs lotus mooncakes. Yummy! 😋

The round shaped mooncake symbolizes completeness, togetherness, good fortune and family reunion.

Moonlight Delights Fiesta :

Last weekend, I brought my kids to the Moonlight Delights fiesta at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) located at Shenton way, near Tanjong Pagar MRT.

It was a heart-warming and family friendly event for all ages. The view at the roof garden is so beautiful and aesthetic! We took some photos with the giant mooncakes and neon lights display. We brought along our own lanterns and bubbles. I felt like a wild child, running around, having so much fun with my kids! 😄

The Evening Entertainment...

An outstanding hola hoop performance by circus artist street performer Bryan Wong from Brylights. The humorous and jovial guy kept the audience entertained with his skilful manoeuvre and stunts! Awesome! The crowds were cheering with excitement.

There were game booths, stage performance, guessing the riddles, mooncake stalls and lantern walk.

Exploring The Milky Way...

My favourite part of the event is the star gazing. How romantic! 😊🤩 Let's count the stars...and to the moon & back!

I'm into astronomy and I've always love star gazing and solar system exploration. The kids were so excited to watch the stars and moon with the telescope equipment provided. What an astonishing experience!

Thankfully, it didn't rain! We are blessed with a cooling and breezy weather that evening.

The queue was overwhelming, but the crowd control was efficient and it's worth the wait!😎

The event was well-organised, with amazing activities and entertainments for everyone. We had an enjoyable evening and I look forward to more fun family events in the near future!

A Demure Treat!

A lovely festive gift from one of my music students at the event. Very cutesy, very tasty and very demure! 😘 I love it! Thanks to JW for the private gathering and extended invitation.

The Mooncake Festive is a wonderful time for family bonding, outdoor activities and fun celebrations! Have a great time!

Sending my heartfelt wishes for a joyful Mooncake Festival full of bliss, happiness and sweet reunions! Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to all who celebrate! :)

5 Things I Love About Taylor Swift 🫶

Taylor Swift, a mega global name in the music & entertainment industry, the pop queen is a legendary icon that made a deep impact and inspired many around the world! From kids, teens, adults and beyond, Taylor Swift has a massive fan base from all ages.

I am a proud swiftie and I absolutely love her music! My personal favorite albums are, Reputation (2017) Lover (2019) and her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department - TTPD (2024)

                    (*Video credit to Tayfield Tiktok)

Her songs are uplifting, inspiring, impactful and high vibration. Her music has so many layers and the lyrics are so relatable, it hits hard for those who experienced similar situations, her songs can sometimes make you smile, cry, inspired, feel empowered and energised!🔥Ahh (..and it's ooh, whoa, oh..it's a cruel summer!🎶 ) Her music has get me through the challenging times.

Yeah! I am a hardcore fan and you will see me wearing a Taylor Swift hoodie, tees, random friendship bracelets and accessories on the streets...😁

(*My Eras Tour Shadow Box. Gonna' hang it up after the final touch!😉 )

Besides her liberal music style, her sweet appearance, charm, fashion sense and her ethereal beauty captured many hearts.😍

Her stage presence is enchanting and magical. She's beautiful, gorgeous, talented and cute too, lol..Seriously, it's really hard not to love Taylor Swift for what she do! 😃 But of course, every one has different music taste and preferences but for me, she will always be my top favorite music artist.(Well ok..I have a soft spot for cuties!lol🤭)

Music is my passion and I enjoy pop music since my teen years. I love and admire many artists and celebrities today, but I feel more connected to Taylor Swift's music and here are some facts that I love about Taylor Swift.😎

5 Things I Love About Taylor Swift :

1) Being True and Standing Up For Herself
(*Song : Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me )

If you have listened to her albums over the years, many of her songs are about her romantic relationships, heartbreaks, bullies, betrayal, reputations etc...These are realities, life experiences that many can relate and resonate. Hence, her music connects people to a deeper level.

Taylor express her emotions in a creative way to convey her past experience through music.

2) Strength and Resilience
(*Song : I Can Do It With A Broken Heart)

This song made me feel very emotional, I couldn't imagine what Taylor went through to write a song with such strong lyrics. Everyone has their own story and most of us have been through some tough times and challenges that we don't talk about openly...

Taylor took a break from the media and she came back stronger and cooler than ever!!! Life isn't all shining and glamorous as what the world sees, even while she was dealing and processing her emotions, she picked herself up, fight through and keep standing strong! That to me, is real power, strength and resilience!💓

3) Diligence and Good Work Ethics

It is impressive to release so many songs in an album. Taylor has been traveling continuously to different countries for her Eras Tour and every concert is over 3hours long. That requires good stamina, focus and concentration. Taylor presents her best performance to her fans professionally in every show. She truly deserves immersive glamour, fame, multiple awards and success for her passion, dedications and years of hard work.

4) Fearless and Bold Personality (*Song : Shake It Off )

Most people would choose to stay silent and hold back their thoughts & opinions in fear of being judged and criticized by society and social circles. They will try to fit in, to feel included, but I guess, to each their own! 😊

In my opinion, it takes alot of courage and confidence to be authentic, to stand on your beliefs and to speak your mind freely.

Taylor Swift speaks to the world like a story teller, she is upfront and candid about her life experience, though some lyrics may be a little 'unfiltered', but that's what I like about her, (You slayed it, girl!😘) She keep it real, genuine and truthful about who she is, not what the world wants her to be..and I respect that! 👍

5) Kindness and Generosity

We all know that Taylor has donated millions of funds to different organisations and helping the less fortunate families. She rewards her team/crews generously in every Eras Tour.

In this surreal and competitive world today, kindness and generosity is getting rare and underrated. Many people feel unappreciated and unvalued, so any act of kindness and generosity should be applauded and recognised.

...I value talents, creativity, and I appreciate good music..and with an amazing personality, that is a huge bonus!

Without a doubt, Taylor Swift is indeed an inspiration for many and a great asset to the world...and "Long Live All The Magic We Made!"

So, what's your favorite Taylor Swift's album? Are you a Swiftie? 🥰🫶
